Jewellery Care

With frequent wear, the natural oils in your skin can lessen the sparkle of some gemstones. To restore their original sparkle, wash your jewellery gently with a soft damp cloth and dishwashing liquid well diluted in warm water. For any 'wire' jewellery designs, avoid excessive wetting and just rub gently over the stones/beads with a soft barely damp cloth. Always dry thoroughly afterwards.

For any items with sterling silver, I recommend the use of a silver cloth, rather than a silver dip solution. Perfume, hairspray, detergent, chlorine and other strong chemicals can cause detrimental effects to pearls, some gemstones and glass; if possible, avoid contact on or near your jewellery.

Whenever you are getting ready to go out, your jewellery should always be the last thing that you put on.

According to the universally accepted moh scale of hardness, a gemstone has a relative hardness between 1 and 10 (1 being talc and 10 being diamond). Stones with a hardness of less than 8 are vulnerable to scratching if worn excessively or if they come in contact with any surfaces harder than themselves. Please be aware of this when you wear any jewellery – the more care you take, the longer your jewellery will remain as beautiful as the day you bought it.

All the jewellery is handcrafted, mostly with semi-precious gemstones and freshwater pearls which I select from reputable importers in the UK, Canada, China and America. I also use beautiful handmade glass beads - these have a similar weight to the gemstones, which means that they feel substantial and 'hang' well.

The range of gemstones, pearls and other beads available is constantly changing.  Please let me know if you are interested in something that isn't on my current list - I may already have a small quantity in stock or I will happily try to source it for you.

Presentation

Everything comes in lovely recycled card presentation boxes; there can be some colour variation in the card boxes because of their recycled nature. The larger items also have an information label about the particular gemstone's attributes.

Silver-Plated Components

Due to the increasing price of Sterling Silver I am now using some silver-plated chains, clasps, beads and charms, in an effort to keep the cost of the designs competitive. All these components are a copper base with a silver overlay, and are made using lead-free and nickel-free processes.

24ct Gold Vermeil

For anyone not familiar with vermeil (pronounced ver-may), it is the name given to a base of 925 Sterling Silver when it is coated with a layer of gold. I am now producing necklace, bracelet and drop earring designs using Gold Vermeil components - it looks gorgeous, is resistant to rubbing and there are none of the problems that some people experience when gold is bonded onto brass or steel base metals.

Earrings

My range includes a huge selection of 925 Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil drop gemstone and pearl earrings to complement the jewellery range. Most drop earrings are available on either post and scroll studs, Bali-style earwires or open lever-back attachments, depending on the finish and style required. Drop earrings using 9ct gold can also be ordered.

Most drop earrings can also be fitted with silver-plated or gold-plated clip earring attachments.
